A licensed professional body piercer should have jewelry autoclaved in the size you choose. Either 14G or 16G can be used for this piercing. These can be stretched from 16G to 14G by a piercer, or you can downsize from a 14G to a 16G. Labret studs are fine. Guys here really like spiked ones, especially for this piercing. Rings look cool too, and they are very easy to keep clean. Be sure your piercer is reputable, licensed, trained, bloodborne pathogens certified, and autoclaves all instruments touching you. They should also be able to provide you with both verbal and written aftercare to take home to help you care for your piercing. If they cannot do all of this, please walk out and find someone who can. Helpful hints--use ice packs a few times daily after the piercing for a couple days. Take Alieve, Motrin, or Tylenol for pain and swelling. This is not a painful piercing, however if it swells it can be. Lots of rinsing and soaking with sea salt as well. Good luck! The standard gauge is 14g but 16g is quite common too.

Well you could get a labret stud in a solid color like black or you could get some silver rings. But there are SO many varities that you can choose whichever you want and it would look just fine.
