Whats the difference between facial cleansers, toners, exfoliants, and scrubs?

and should i use them all?!?!?!?!

there are too many complicated things to taking care of my face....
Whats the difference between facial cleansers, toners, exfoliants, and scrubs?
exfoliate once a week

cleanse and tone everyday.

simple :)
Whats the difference between facial cleansers, toners, exfoliants, and scrubs?
cleanser - to wash face..

toner- after washing your face, you strip your skin of its natural ph balance.. which means your skin is more likely to have free radical damage.. cant protect itself as well to environment..(age faster)

toner is not necesarry if you choose a gentle cleanser, or one that says PH balance on it..

exfoliant - 2-3 times a week.. we get dead skin cells.. help remove some of it. dead skin cells can lead to dull looking skin.. plus it helps keep pores clear, so good for preventing acne.

scrub- same thing as an exfoliant.. just another word for exfoliant..

get a ph balance cleanser.. and a scrub to use twice a week.

but i would also get a moisturizer depending on you skin type, but its not necessarry..
Reply:Cleanser- Cleans the make up, dirt, oils, etc off of your face.

Toner- Removes any remaining traces of make up, dirt, oils, etc. Some toners also balance out the pH of your skin. Sometimes, depending on the type of cleanser you use, the cleanser can remove the %26#039;acid mantle%26#039; (it%26#039;s the very important proctective layer of your skin.) And some toners will restore that layer. Also, toning is an unneccessary step. If you buy a good cleanser, it will clean your face well and won%26#039;t destroy the acid mantle.

Exfoliator- It basically removes a layer of dead skin cells. It%26#039;s good to exfoliate because the top, dead layers are damaged, hence why you have wrinkles, sun spots, scars, etc. Getting down to new healthy skin cells will make your skin glow and so forth. There%26#039;s many different ways to exfoliate your skin. You can do it by simply using a washcloth while cleansing your face. However, be sure not to rub too hard. Using your fingertips exfoliates very lightly. I prefer, and suggest, that you just buy an exfoliating mask to use twice a week.

Scrub- A scrub is a substance that has tiny granules in it. It exfoliates, or removes a layer of dead skin cells. I would stay clear of cheap-o scrubs such as St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Cheap scrubs contain granules that are triangular in size which can cause microscopic tears in your skin that can fill up with dirt and oil. And then make you break out, more. Really, you don%26#039;t need to use a scrub if you%26#039;re using an exfoliating mask. They do the same thing.

You should in the morning:

Cleanse.

Tone.

Moisturize. (Avoid hand lotions as well as scented moisturizers.)

Then apply an sunscreen of an SPF of your choice.

At night:

Cleanse.

Tone.

Then use an exfoliating mask twice a week.

Moisturize.

Good luck.

Reply:Basically, Cleansers removed surface dirt and oil, preparing your skin for the next step which is usually Toning.

Toning adds a protective layer to your skin to help keep it from drying out and loosing too much moisture. Toners also help to balance the pH of your skin.

Exfoliants and scrubs are grainy and help remove dead skin.

Cleansers should be used twice daily. Use something gentle and stay away from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances. I highly recommend Oatmeal Milk %26amp; Honey Sudz by Mineral Girlz for normal/combination/sensitive skin, Clay %26amp; Tea Tree Sudz for oily skin, or Cleanze for dry skin. All these are available at http://www.enidmg.com

The great thing about Cleanze is, it cleans, tones %26amp; moisturizes all in one step.

Toners should be used every time you cleanse.

Scrubs should only be used once or twice a week.
Reply:Step 1: Wash your face with your cleanser/wash %26amp; then rinse off. It cleanses your face.

Step 2: Get a cotton ball %26amp; dip it into the toner %26amp; spread around whole face.Toner is what you use to remove the residue and any dirt and oils after you cleanse your skin. It also balances the skin鈥檚 pH levels and natural oil levels and evens out skin tone (its better if you use it after cleansing your face)

Step 3: Apply a good moisturizer/cream

This whole thing should be done every night and morning.

You should scrub/exfoliate your skin ONCE IN A WEEK and not everyday. It removes dead skin cells that builds up and leave your skin feeling smooth and soft =) You will find good products where it%26#039;s written exfoliating scrub though I%26#039;d recommend a homemade one: Mix honey, lemon juice and sugar then rub the mixture to your face gently (do not rub hard, the sugar will do the thing).

I use Dove and I love it! There are other good ones too, you should use the products depending upon your skin type, normal, oily, sensitive or combination. It%26#039;s better not to buy any from Clean and Clear since it dries out your skin.

Hope this helped!
